Statement from I4G on the AMERICA Act
From inflation to recession, small businesses continue to face economic threats, even after weathering a pandemic. Legislation like the AMERICA Act would add to their troubles, destroying integrated ad-buying and -selling networks everyone from brick-and-mortar retailers to online content creators use to reach larger audiences. Just as competition in the advertising market is growing, this bill would reverse decades of progress to improve fragmentation and inefficiency. The irony is that a handful of big companies will continue to prosper, but rising costs and complexity will crush small businesses. Internet for Growth is urging Congress to fully consider the consequences of disrupting a competitive and growing online ad market benefiting small businesses and their customers.
